RE
CURRICULUM
What will my child be learning this
year?
Curriculum offered in the RE program is organized by theme. Classes from
pre-school through 6th grade explore the same theme at their own developmental
level for the entire year.
Infant and Toddler Nursery (Birth-Age 3)
Safe, loving childcare for our infants and toddlers is provided each week by
an experienced paid child care worker and by volunteers from the congregation.
You are welcome to take your infant to the service or, if the child becomes
fussy, to sit in the fireside room, where the service is broadcast.
Preschool: Celebrating Me and My World:
Chalice Children nurtures young children’s spiritual growth, creativity
and connection to their Unitarian Universalist community through rhymes, games,
finger plays, stories and activities. The pre-school class meets every Sunday,
except when there is an intergenerational service.
K-1:
Special Times:
Around the Church Around the Year acquaints children with their own UU
community including the people and buildings, rituals and celebrations, and the
basic tenets of Unitarian Universalism.
2-3:
Timeless Themes
Walking the Rainbow Path: Celebrating All the Colors of Love adapts the 7
Principles by assigning them to a color of the rainbow in ROYGBIV style. This
curriculum gives children a framework on which to explore and build their own
theological system using great children's literature, games, creative projects,
and service projects.
4:
Timeless Themes
We Believe builds on the 7 principles of Unitarian Universalism. The
activities in the lessons encourage children to incorporate the principlesinto
their lives.
5-6:
A Kingdom of Equals/ Peace and Social Justice
Traditions With a Wink teaches an understanding of the Unitarian
Universalist faith in a fun and informative way. The class emphasizes that we
come from a long tradition of questioning, searching, loving, kindness and good
works.
7-8

Our Whole Lives ("OWL’) is a comprehensive sexuality education curriculum
provides youth with accurate information about sexual health, human development,
sexual behavior, relationships and personal skills in the supportive setting of
our religious community.
