When visiting, feel free to come as you are: dress up or down according to your own needs and taste. You may park anywhere that you like, including in the spaces reserved for visitors near the front door. Just inside the front doors, there is a short flight of stairs; a lift is available should you need it.
Attending a Service
Services are held every Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. during the year (changing to one service in the summer). A “standard” service lasts about an hour and contains many traditional elements (welcome, joys and concerns, offering, readings, hymns, inspirational or educational sermons, etc.). Services may also contain “non-traditional” elements such as drumming, dancing, theatrical presentations, question-and-answer periods, etc.
When you arrive, if you are comfortable, make a name tag for yourself at the Visitor Center at the top of the stairs. (Members wear name tags too). Children are welcome to be in the service or, if they are comfortable, they may visit the nursery or a class in our religious education department. Services are held in the sanctuary, but seating is also available in the social hall just outside if you prefer, or if your children need to walk about or play where you can be near them.
We have large print hymnals and orders of service available as well as hearing-assist devices and a copy of the hymnal in Braille; please speak to an usher if you would like one of these. Feel free to stay after the service for coffee and conversation.
Attending Other Events at BuxMont
There are many opportunities beyond Sunday morning to explore life at BuxMont. Almost all events are open to newcomers, so feel free to attend the activities that sound most interesting and enjoyable to you, even if you have not yet attended a service. Possibilities include discussion groups, book club meetings, music groups, Gaia’s Rainbow (which explores pagan traditions) and much more. You may also enjoy attending one of our music events such as a coffeehouse, song circle, or concert. Visit the Upcoming Events page or subscribe to our newsletter for more information on individual events.
However you choose to join us, we look forward to welcoming you!
