ADULT CHOIR
The Adult Choir will have an informal rehearsal on September 2 and our first “official” rehearsal on September 16. The Metaphysical Singers are starting rehearsals on September 5. The schedules for Family Choir and Instant Choir are not set up yet, but if you’re interested, please talk to me. Our choirs are open to all skill levels. If you’ve been thinking about joining, the beginning of the season is one of the best times to do so when everyone is learning the music together. We also have other specialty choirs, like the Family Choir and the Metaphysical singers. For more information about these, take a look at the Music section. Topical Issue for September 19: Organ Donation

The ability to transplant organs has been a medical advancement that has saved many lives. However, there are still many people suffering and dying from a lack of available organs. What is the current system for the allocation of this scarce resource and is it fair? For example, should people who agree to be organ donors be first in line to receive them if needed? What public policy might encourage more donations, yet remain ethical? Should criminals be eligible to receive organs?

SPIRITUALITY STUDY GROUP
The BuxMont Spirituality Study Group ordinarily meets the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room from September to June, but meeting times and dates will vary somewhat this year. Our usual format is a presentation and/or video followed by a discussion.

The first four meetings of the 2010-2011 year have been planned. The first get-together will be a tour of the Bryn Athyn Cathedral in Montgomery County (Swedenborgian religion) on Saturday, September 11; the second meeting will be on Thursday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room, when Robert Onsted, author of The Mythology of Scripture, will discuss his book; the third and fourth meetings of the month will be on Thursday, November 4, and Thursday, December 2, in Room 106, when David Jones will show the 1972 movie, The Poseidon Adventure on television and discuss the spiritual symbolism of one of the most popular and financially successful motion pictures of its time.

The group will meet on Saturday, September 11, at noon outside the church to take a tour of the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. No charge. We will leave promptly shortly after noon. The drive is approximately half an hour to three quarters of an hour. We will car pool. Contact Dave Jones
