Committee Chair Job Description
The Religious Education Committee Chair is
recommended by the Nominating Committee to the Board of Trustees for approval.
The term of service begins July 1st and is for a period of three
years.
The Religious Education (RE) Committee Chair
will:
 | Act as primary liaison with the
Director of Religious Education (DRE), Board of Trustees, Fellowship
Council (both Program and Administrative), Minister, Administrator, and
others as requested.

 | Represent the RE Committee when
collaborating with other committees.
 | Preside over monthly Religious
Education Board (REB) meetings.
 | Prepare the meeting agenda with
consideration to recent agendas, the Fellowship calendar, and input from
the DRE and REB.
 | Assign a recorder of minutes.
 | Maintain (or assign a recorder) a “to
do” list that clearly states the responsibilities and assignments of
the REB in the coming month, and assure that absent REB members are
notified of their assignments and responsibilities for coming events.
 | Oversee activities of the committee
members.
 | Meet with the DRE throughout the year,
as needed, to discuss how to best develop the RE Program |

 | Liaison with the Program Committee (via e-mail or attendance at Program Committee meetings) to coordinate Intergenerational services, Sundays when children will begin upstairs, and to plan when RE groups will coordinate a Sunday service. |
 | Read the announcements during the Sunday Service as scheduled. |
 | Coordinate and facilitate the
Back-to-RE morning in autumn. This includes placing an
announcement in the Liberal Voice and with the Administrator for the
Sunday bulletin and coordinating with the Sunday Morning committee.
 | Submit a written annual budget created
with input from the DRE and the REB, and explain requests as needed.
This occurs in March.
 | Identify potential REB members.
This usually occurs in March.
 | Facilitate the REB Retreat in April,
with input from the DRE. The retreat is a time to evaluate program
successes and difficulties, review new curricula, and facilitate change
and growth of the program.
 | Compose the Annual Report for RE and
submit it to the Administrator in April.
 | Provide a list of all RE volunteers to
the Chair of Fellowship Council (President-Elect) or other designated
Chair of Volunteer Appreciation, in May.
 | Submit calendar requests for RE events
(after discussion with the REB and DRE) to the Chair of Fellowship
Council. These include but are not limited to: Monthly REB
meetings, Teacher welcoming/training; RE Family Breakfast; Back-to RE
morning; Teacher Appreciation event(s); and the RE Retreat.
 | Meet with the DRE in late spring to
select special topics to be covered in the coming RE calendar year, and
to discuss the curriculum.
 | Act as the RE contact person during the
summer as coordinated with the DRE. |
